Denis

Age: Roughly 30 years old
About: Denis a very loving boy who loves to whistle and spin outside his cage. He hasn’t selected a favorite treat so far but loves being in the middle of all the activity. His owner was very dedicated to him and only wanted the best for his future. She cared for him from the time he was a baby. Fortunately we got tons of baby pics of him and his parents!

Papa Bear

Age: At least 40 years old
About: Papa Bear is quite possibly the sweetest calmest bird I’ve ever met - and that’s saying A LOT for a cockatoo! His owner loved him so very much and had raised him from a baby but was just getting older and unable to care for him like he would like. He has a bit of a scissor beak but we got that trimmed up at the vet and he seems to be doing great! His favorite activities are spinning on the outside of his cage and sitting with me on the couch.

About: Castiel is absolutely one of the most precious birds. We’ve been through a lot together in our short time. We had another male Goffin’s around for a while and they were absolute terrors together! I received more than my share of bites. Once he was the only male again though he sweetened right back up. He’s so very confident and it’s often a little off-putting to other birds when he just flies and lands on their perch like it’s his! He is also, however, IINCREDIBLY sweet. He loves to say Hi, I love you, and Bye bye when you’re leaving. He’ll even lift his little wing to wave. I can’t imagine our lives without him.

About: Goofy definitely lives up to his name. He can’t help but “bacaw” at you exactly like a chicken when he’s excited. He also makes a clicking sound as well when amped up. To our surprise, he actually really bonded immediately with my husband (and really not many of the cockatoos like him!). He LOVES to play in cabinets and with shaker bottles. His favorite treats include in or out of shell almonds. He came in with Sara and they like to hang out close to one another.

About: Rex (AKA JR) originally had a home in a rescue after being found abandoned in a not so great location. His previous owner adopted him from there. He came to us from that loving home where they just needed to downsize the larger birds they had and the owners wanted to know he’d be taken care of for good. Rex came over with Blu (Marco). He’s quite gentle with his beak but not a big fan of being pet. He mostly likes to hang out in the same room on his perch and just observe. He’s definitely the largest bird here weighing in at over 1,000 grams! He gets excited when people come to visit and will toss out a very freindly “Hiiiiii”

Age: 30 years
About: Beeper has come so far! When he first came to us he was deemed quite aggressive and would bite if you put your hands close to his cage. We were actually bird sitting for his previous owners and when they saw how well he did while he was here they wanted us to keep him! We were more than happy to and he’s been a pleasure to have around. He’s been eating his veggies and getting scritches daily. The vet says he likely has a bit of atherosclerosis so we’re very mindful of his diet and getting him to be more active. He also has a little bit of a droopy wing on one side so it’s unlikely he’ll fly but the vet says there’s no structural damage so that’s ok! When he’s a little uncomfortable with something he’ll “meow” like a cat! He also will call you over for scritches by clicking at you and I would swear very quietly and high pitched he sometimes says “love you”.

About: Sara is a lover. She’s a bit timid and startles easily but is a sweetheart. Castiel is always trying to hang out with her but she’s much more comfortable with her buddy Goofy. Once she makes it out of her cage she’s a snuggle bug. She says “Hi Sara”, “whatcha doin?”, and after I feed her she has started saying “thank you”! The manners!!!

About: Blue (AKA Marco) came to us along with Rex. His owner had him as a young bird. He’s quite boisterous and likes to make you think he’s big and bad, but really he’s very sweet. Despite his much smaller size compared to Rex, HE’S actually the wood destroyer! I’ve given him the biggest toys I’ve made and he will just chew through them. He likes to call out “Marco!” to you when you’re not in the room and obviously you’re supposed to reply with “Polo!” He loves head scritches but will pretend he’s going to “get” you to see if you flinch! He also likes to “rawr” like a dinosaur at you and it’s absolutely adorable. He also does this cute dance when he’s excited where he lifts up his wing and shimmies side to side.
